Non-binary pronouns are part of a new paradigm, and that freaks you out. You're terrified of this new world, a world that isn't like the old one. an evolved world, where humans demand justice and actual egalitarian treatment. how terribly transparent of you to see our identities as inherently political. It is reasonable, tho, to assume someone's pronouns as the vast majority of humans ARE binary, either cis binary or trans binary - but if someone corrects your use of pronouns you should show them the basic decency of using THOSE pronouns. THEIR pronouns. Imagine a world where everyone sees you as nonbinary and refers to you as "ze". you correct them again and again, and inform them that you are a binary woman and your pronouns are "she/her" - your family, your coworkers, your friends, your spouse's friends, your neighbors, etc etc. But they insist on gendering you as "ze" and seeing you as nonbinary. imagine that world, and imagine your feelings about existing in that world...... Nonbinary people exist and it's not even a point of debate anymore. we won't be silenced into nonexistence because reactionary humans have a hard time expanding the horizons of their own worldview. |
